Do insurance rates always go up after fender benders? even super minor ones?

I was in a minor parking lot fender bender, more like fender TAPPING if you ask me, neither car has more of a scratch, I am pretty sure that she is more at fault in this situation because when we tapped i was all the way out my my parking space and she was only out about half way, hence why our bumpers tapped on both of our rear passenger corners. she has a witness claiming they saw the whole thing and that I hit her, but regardless of if my car tapped hers or her car tapped mine, I was all the way out of my space and she was the one who wasn't looking enough to not hit me. I was about to shift into drive right when we tapped, I had my foot on the brake, which is probably why we didn't hit hard enough to do any more damage than a scratch. ANYWAY she is basically making a huge deal about a small *** scratch on her 1998 honda in which i am sure that she is at fault for. in maryland, I have always been told that parking lot accidents are equal fault cases no matter what. she called me 3 days after the incident and also called my house number(which i did NOT give her!!! creepy) she got mad that I called the police for advice on what to do and said she is going to go through my insurance to get things settled. m my question is, will my insurance go up if she files a claim using my insurqnce info? even though the repair for her tiny scratch couldn't possibly cost more than 200 bucks? It is so small i feel like someone at a body shop could buff it out for even less than 100, maybe even 50. it just baffles me that someone would make such a big deal over a scratch that is less than an inch, especially when my scratches are deeper and longer than hers! you can tell by the direction that my scratch was in that she was the one who hit me, because of where the paint was pushed.

Okay, so I've had my Chevy taho 1 year, i just canceled my insurance cause I'm about to sell it I'm living in California moving to Colorado so I'm gonna sell my car...I know in cali Seller must smog the car a 2nd time, but am i taking a risk driving it to go get it smoged? also.... i have not driven it cause I planned on selling it so it's also not renewed.... and to make matters worse I lost my tile, positive honest answers please =(

does anybody know if a good and inexpensive family health insurance that I can pay on an individual plan? it is way too expensive through my employer. Changing Insurance Carriers (auto)??

Hi! I've been insured with a well known company for 8-9 years. I have a clean driving record, and need to cut some costs. The gecko got to me! I recently got some new quotes, which are cheaper than my present carrier. I called my company and they will not lower their rate, so I'm thinking about changing to another company. Is there any loyalty factor at all, or should I just go ahead and change carriers? I was careful to be sure that the bids I got were for policies that exactly match what I have now...but I'm afraid of starting new, I guess. And, is there anything else I need to be concerned about? What do you think?

Why is it assumed auto/motorcycle insurance is optional?

Why do so many drivers who live where having auto insurance is law(pretty much all of the U.S.) have this arrogant belief that just because they can't afford the insurance or can't pay out of their pocket that they still have the right to drive on the road? Worst thing is why are these people hardly punished for breaking the law and why must the other driver's insurance cover uninsured drivers. This whole insurance process is the most screwed up thing and proof of human idiocy. You ever see that commcerial for SafeAuto insurance? The dumb girl goes, I been in lots of accidents, but I NEED my car. or the guy who says' I don't have money for insurance, but I need to make tough choices. Like they are telling us they are going to drive their car without insurance. This is how we allow this type of stupidity.

Can California Civil Code 827 be used to enforce mandatory renters insurance?

Recently my landlord sent tenants a letter stating we have to buy renter's insurance, stating that California Civil Code 827 allows them to do this. Looking it up, I see 827 is about rent increased, not renter's insurance (and nothing about anything being mandatory). When I signed the lease with them, I was not required to pay for renter's insurance, but they claim that terms have changed and now I am obligated to pay this, and if I don't, may destroy my credit. All because of Civil Code 827. Can they actually do this? Or is this letter some kind of tactic to coerce me into signing this document and providing insurance? Thanks!

so I have a little situation with my car insurance company, so heres the deal, I bought a car a wild ago, it was on my brothers name and I was cosigner, we had an nsurance and everything, but then it broke, I couldnt drive it, so we canceled insurance, why pay if it doesnt drive? then I refinanced it and transferred on my name, I didnt tell the bank that the car is broken, but they wanted me to show them proof of insurance, which I went out and bought, because Im going to trade this car in and get new one, and I have no problem paying for new car, but now insurance company wants me to send them a proof of previous insurance. what should I tell them, so my premium wouldnt go up? should I tell them that I just purchased the car? because technicly It went on my name recently. My son hit a parked car - need auto insurance advice?

My son (19) hit a parked car in our neighborhood. We are trying to decide if it is better to pay for the damages to car that he hit ($2500) without going through our insurance company or to report it to our company. The person's car that he hit is willing to let us pay out of pocket. My son had a previous at-fault accident and has 2 points now. His car is totaled.
